This beautiful song talks about Maui's official flower, the lokelani, also known as the damask rose (rosa damascena). This song also mentions a lush green valley on Maui that I hold near and dear to my heart, Iao Valley. As a child, I use to hike and swim in the cold, but very refreashing Iao streams with my grandfather. I remember driving through the emerald valley and seeing the beautiful waterfalls surround us. It was truly a magical place.
